Today, the 24th of August 2017 is National Burger Day! We have already posted a burger review this week but to celebrate we just had to review a burger and we chose to go to The New Club.

So far the longest venture from our work space, The New Club is a bar/restaurant along the seafront just a stone’s throw from the i360. The location is great with a large space inside and out to sit and enjoy the view of the sea on nice days. The staff were friendly and their service did not disappoint.

One of only four burgers on the brunch menu, the Dirty Burger is a “dry-aged organic beef patty with hickory smoked onion/bacon relish, Monterey Jack, baby gem lettuce, pickled cabbage, gherkins and house sauce in a glazed bun.” The burger comes nicely presented with a wooden skewer for stability and a large side of chips. Their full menu can be found on their website: thenewclubbrighton.com

The normal price for the Dirty Burger is £12.00 which is the most expensive burger we have reviewed so far. However as we visited on National Burger Day we all had vouchers that got us 20% off.

Once again, we gave the burger a score out of 10 in 5 categories which are: Juiciness, Bun, Flavour, Stability and Value for Money. For an overall summary we think that this particular burger was okay but nothing stood out, there was no prominent layer and we came away feeling unfulfilled so there are a few things that could be improved.

We thought that the hickory smoked onion/bacon relish would be more noticeable but it was lost and we forgot it was in there until we checked the menu again afterwards. The red cabbage stood out like a sore thumb and soaked through to the bottom, leaving the burger unstable, messy and hard to hold. The menu stated that the bun would be glazed, but our buns were plain and very dry.

It was not bad but not great either, if it was £9-10 we could forgive the lack of flavour but you are better off spending your £12.00 on another burger. If you have tried the Dirty Burger and think we’re wrong please comment and let us know why.
