The Temple Bar is a great place to chow-down on a hot day in Brighton. Perfect for a pint, an open bar and of course the sun kissed Lucky Beach Burger…
It would have been a waste not to go to The Temple Bar on a warm sunny day in Brighton. It’s outside seating and opened front panels are second to none. The menu is run by Lucky Beach and and is full of summery snacks and meals. The Lucky Beach Burger; the signature burger from the kitchen, consists of beef, chicken fat onions, kombu cheese fondue, ketchup leather, umami butter, truffle brioche and pickles.
Unlike the burgers we have reviewed before, the LBB does not come with a small side of chips which is unfortunate, however the selection of separate sides The Temple Bar offers are incredible. Check them out on the Temple Bar’s full menu here: www.thetemplebar.pub. On it’s own the LBB costs £8.70 but if you want an additional side of chips and a drink then expect upwards of £15.
The pub itself feels summery with a industrial design and the big windows at the front that open up into the outside seating area makes the space feel open and welcoming. The bar is spherical and decently sized and you can expect friendly staff and a large variety of beers and IPAs. We sat on a little table right by the open panels to get the sun flooding in.
Just like our last burger review we gave the burger a score out of 10 in 5 categories which are: Juiciness, Bun, Flavour, Stability and Value for Money.
As for a few things we think could be improved, the Ketchup leather was tough and felt like chewing on paper. Maybe if it was distributed throughout the layers then it would be better. Also both mine and Ashley’s experience with the burger was a bit different. Mine was already falling apart when it arrived and was over-packed with a few ingredients.
To summarize, the Lucky Beach Burger was nice but was not consistent. The bun was the highlight and the many layers were not evenly distributed so sometimes it felt like you got a mouthful of only one layer. That being said we still think that it’s worth a try, maybe you will enjoy it more than us.
